"Tiffany" Watercolor by Rowan Abbensetts
Gouache watercolor on paper 25” X 19”
My art evolved from my writing. Years ago in the early nineties, I wrote a kid’s book called Remembrance of Christmas and sent the script to an agent who advised that script would do better if illustrated. To this end, I decided to illustrate the book myself. And to my surprise, I started selling art done for the book.
Since then, I have been in galleries for short periods such as Wares for Art, and Calvin Morris. I have sold to collector, Betty Carol Ann Sellen, author of Twentieth Century Self Thought, and Outsider Art. Last year, I completed my second kid’s book, Once Upon an Easter with illustrations, and I am now working on my adult book, Day in The Life of Abby. All of my art is done in collage watercolor on paper. I also draw inspiration from my Caribbean and West African heritage.
